From June 19, 2026 Online stores must provide customers with an online withdrawal button (Art. 11a of Directive 2011/83/EU, as amended by Directive (EU) 2023/2673; in Italy, Art. 54-bis of the Consumer Code). WooCommerce stores that sell to consumers in the EU and must comply with the new online right of withdrawal requirement.
The Directive (EU) 2023/2673 introduced the'Article 11a Under the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU): for distance contracts concluded through an online interface, the trader must provide a withdrawal function that makes the exercise of the right at least as easy as the conclusion of the contract.
In Italy, transposition took place with the Legislative Decree 209/2025, who inserted the'Article 54-bis of the Consumer Code. The obligation applies to contracts concluded starting from June 19, 2026.
