Hostinger: Review, Opinions, and Real Prices.

The short answer, for those short on time: It's a serious product and it's cheap, but the price you see in the window is not what you pay. The €2.99 per month only exists if you pay forty-eight months in advance, which is €143.52 net at once, and upon renewal it becomes €9.99 per month. Below is the complete price list with the renewal price next to the promotional price, the real cost over two years, what we found testing their website generator, and the things they do well, which are several.

Go to the full price list → When is it advisable to choose them
The verdict, in three lines

The problem isn't the quality, it's What do you understand you are buying.

We are writing this page as a competitor, so we have a vested interest, and that needs to be stated upfront. That's why every figure below has a date and a source, and there's an entire section on cases where their option is the right choice.

01
96PageSpeed, without optimizations

Technically it works

In our test on July 29, 2026, the generated site ran with a PageSpeed score around 96 without us touching anything, with HTTPS active from the start. The code is exported to a zip archive, so you are not tied to the platform. It's more than what we offer on this point, and we're saying it.

02
143,52 €net, pay in full

The price shown is a prepaid.

The €2.99 per month for the Premium plan is not an installment: it's the total for forty-eight months divided by forty-eight. To get it, you pay the full amount upfront. The renewal price, which is what you'll actually pay from the fifth year, is €9.99 per month: more than triple.

03
30Messages per month on the Explorer plan

You build the website.

There isn't a plan on Hostinger's Italian website where someone builds the site for you: there's the editor, there's WordPress, and there's Horizons, which generates the first version based on a description. Text, photos, corrections, and updates are still your responsibility, and on the generator, every request uses up a message, even if the response isn’t what you wanted.

The price list, as of July 30, 2026

How is it made Hostinger's price list.

The figures come from Hostinger's Italian pricing pages, read on July 30, 2026. They are net of VAT: the pricing page itself states this at the bottom with the phrase "Prices are shown without VAT." With Italian VAT at 22 percent, each amount must be multiplied by 1.22, so the first payment for the Premium plan goes from €143.52 to €175.09.

Website builder hosting

The website builder is not a separate product; it is included in the hosting plans, and the same offers appear on both the pricing page and the website builder page. The contract term shown on the page is forty-eight months.

Cloud Professional€14.99/monthunpublishedunpublishedunpublished
Cloud Enterprise€29.99/monthunpublishedunpublishedunpublished

Net imports. The "paid upfront" column is the monthly price multiplied by forty-eight months, which is the condition for obtaining it. Where you read "not published" it is not our reticence: on the two largest cloud plans the page shows the monthly price and not the total or the renewal.

Horizons, the AI website generator

It's the product that's talked about the most, and the one that a local business owner encounters first in advertising. Here the contractual term shown is twelve months, and the quantity that counts is not the disk space: it's the messages with which the site is built and corrected.

PianoAI messages per monthPrice shownTotal twelve monthsFull price referenceAt renewal

Hobbyist200€39.99/month479,88 €€671.88 per 12 months€39.99/month

Net imports. On Horizons, there's one thing that must be acknowledged: The renewal price is the same as the promotional price.. Explorer remains €6.99 per month even after the first year, and it's the only Hostinger product line we've identified where the renewal price doesn't increase. The Free plan is permanent, offering five messages per month without requiring a credit card: you can try website generation at no cost.

Domain and mailbox

The domain is included for twelve months with the annual plans, then you pay. The first year a .it costs €5.99 net, and next to it the page shows €15.99 crossed out. Be careful how that figure is read: The domain renewal price is not published., the page generically refers to standard renewal rates. The €15.99 is a crossed-out price, not a stated price, and that's why we use it later when mentioning it. The .com for €0.01 for the first year requires a three-year contract, and its crossed-out price is €16.99.

The mailboxes are included in the hosting plans, but with a time limit: the pricing page states that they are free for one year. How much they cost from the second year is not published on the pricing page. The email product sold separately starts at €0.39 per month for a 5 GB mailbox and renews at €1.59, the 20 GB mailbox renews at €2.79, and the 50 GB one at €3.99: these are the closest figures available, and we use them as a stated approximation.

The thing to understand before signing

€2.99 per month it's not a monthly installment.

It's not incorrect and it's not hidden: the page states it. However, it's information that completely changes the meaning of the price, and it's written in a place where no one reads it.

Step 01
48 monthscommitment

The price exists only at four years.

The price list states that all plans require upfront payment and that the monthly fee is the total plan price divided by the number of months. Therefore, €2.99 per month means forty-eight months, and a net €143.52 paid at once, which with 22 percent VAT amounts to €175.09.

Step 02
9,99 €per month, upon renewal

Then the price multiplies

Once the period ends, the Premium plan renews at €9.99 per month net. This isn't a hidden surprise; it's written on the price list next to the promotional price, which not all providers do. But the number is what counts, because that's what you pay for the entire time the site remains online.

Step 03
unpublishedThe price for 12 and 24 months

The other terms are not visible

Those who do not want to commit for four years will not find the price for the twelve or twenty-four month term on the page content: you'll find it at checkout. The only item on the price list where a twenty-four month term appears with an explicit price is in the section for agencies, where a plan starts at €25 per month and renews at €49.

There is a third figure to know, and that is the full reference price: €575.52 for forty-eight months of Premium. It's neither the promotional price nor the renewal price, which for forty-eight months would be a different figure. It's an anchor: it serves to make the discount perceived. It's worth knowing because it's the figure that makes comparing it to any alternative more favorable than it actually is.

The useful question to ask any provider, including Hostinger, is just one: What is the cost of renewal, and what is the minimum commitment?. On Hostinger the reply is published, and this is in their favor.

The full bill

How much does it really cost in two years.

Two years and not one, because the comparison says nothing about the first year: it's the year when the domain and mailbox are free. Scenario: local business, showcase website, custom .it domain, one email box on the domain. Premium plan, which is the cheapest configuration that meets all three needs.

Total 24 monthssum of the items above106,83 €
The same total with 22% VAT106.83 € per 1.22130,33 €

€106.83 net over two years: on this item Hostinger costs much less than us, and we are not trying to make it look otherwise. We cost €780 net over the same two years with the launch promotion, €870 at full price. Those looking for the cheapest way to be online have found a valid answer, and at that point the useful part of this page is the table above, not our offer.

Two warnings about the total, because a bill without warnings is not a bill. The first one: At month twenty-five the contract is not finished. The price of €2.99 per month applies for forty-eight months, so the months from the twenty-fifth to the forty-eighth cost an additional €71.76 net, and from month forty-nine the renewal is at €9.99 per month. The second one: two of the five items are not published prices. Hostinger does not publish the domain renewal and mailbox cost from the second year onwards, so we used the crossed-out domain price and the rate for the email product sold separately, stating this in the table. If you prefer an account without assumptions, the verifiable total is the hosting fee: €71.76 net for twenty-four months.

If you look at Horizons instead, the fee for the Explorer plan is €83.88 net per year and does not change upon renewal: two years therefore come to €167.76 net, which is our calculation and not a figure seen at checkout. Here too, the domain and mailbox are free only for the first year and their renewal cost is not published.

Direct exam of July 29, 2026

What Horizons showed us Before applying for the card.

We opened Horizons and asked for the website of a beauty salon specializing in massages, manicures, and nails, based in Trieste. We gave the exact same request, word for word, to a second generator, in order to compare them.

The first thing Horizons shows is not a site: it is a generated image that looks like a website. The business name was made up, "Bellezza & Relax", and inside there was a customer review with a synthetic name and face. You can tell the difference from the texts, because in the image the words were distorted: "Preneta Ora" instead of "Book now", "Relaxing Massages", "Nail Reconstruction", "See All Prices". These are the typical errors of a model that draws letters instead of writing words.

To get to the real site, you have to pay first. This is the point of the test, and it is a fact, not a judgment: what you see before paying is not the product. It is a promotional rendering built on your description. If taken as a faithful preview, you are deciding on something that does not exist yet.

After payment, it must be said, the product changes nature and works: real site, active HTTPS, high performance, exportable code. On the content that ends up inside the generated sites, which is a different and more delicate issue, we have written a separate page: How much does a website built with AI really cost?.

Reviews from users

The limits that return most often.

This section does not come from our test, but from independent reviews published by those who have used Horizons for work. We have not verified them ourselves, and we state this because it is the difference between data and a report: take them as things to check, not as facts ascertained by us.

01

Credits are consumed by trying

The message count does not distinguish between successful and failed attempts. Those who already know how to craft a prompt consume very few; those who go by trial and error run through the thirty messages of the Explorer plan and buy an additional pack. It is the most frequent complaint, and it is consistent with how the product works.

02

Integrations that do not always succeed

In the tests reported by independent reviewers, the connection to Supabase, which is an external database, failed. This mainly concerns those who want to build an application rather than a showcase website, but it is useful to know beforehand because it is one of the things the product promises.

03

Articles generated without an H1 heading

Always based on independent reviews: the articles produced by the generator lacked the H1 tag, which is the main title that search engines use to understand what the page is about. It's fixable, if you know where to look. If you don't know, you don't even notice.

The real things in their favor

Why it is a product Seriously.

A page where the competitor gets everything wrong is not credible and would not even be legal as comparative advertising. These claims are verified, and some are things that we do not do today.

  • High performance without work. In the July 29, 2026 test, the generated site scored around 96 on PageSpeed without any optimization intervention, with HTTPS automatically enabled. That is not a minor detail: speed is one of the few technical factors that truly affects ranking.
  • The code is taken away. Horizons exports the complete site into a zip archive, so there is no platform lock-in: if one day you want to go elsewhere, you take what you have built with you. It is a concrete freedom, and We are not giving it today.
  • 24/7 Italian-language support, stated at the top of the pricing page along with the option to cancel at any time. The channels are chat and email: a telephone number is not published on the pages we read.
  • 30-day refund on all plans, and on the website builder a fourteen-day trial. The exclusions are in the refund policy, which we haven't read, so they need to be checked before counting on it.
  • The Horizons free plan is permanent and does not require a credit card. Five messages a month are enough to figure out how the generation works before spending any money. It's the most honest way to try a product, and it's worth doing even before talking to us.
  • On Horizons, the renewal fee does not increase. The Explorer plan stays at €6.99 per month even after the first year. Among all the providers we surveyed, instances where the renewal price matches the introductory price are few, and this is one.
  • The renewal price is written next to the promotional one. Many providers don't do this. On Hostinger, for the main hosting plans, the amount you will pay later is shown on the same page, and this allows for the comparison we make here.
Honesty

When to choose Hostinger.

Not everyone needs what we do, and pretending otherwise is immediately obvious. The two columns describe two different people, not a better product and a worse one.

Choose Hostinger if
  • The budget is the main constraint: €106.83 net over two years is less than a seventh of what we cost
  • Would you like to build and debug by yourself, and maybe you'll have some fun
  • You want to be able to download the code and take it wherever you want
  • You need more than just a showcase website, for example an application or a lightweight management system
  • You already have the texts and photographs ready, and you just miss the place to put them
  • Are you okay with committing for forty-eight months paying in advance, or do you accept the renewal price
Choose us if
  • Your time is better spent on your business than learning a software program
  • Do you want to see the finished website, with your actual content, before paying anything
  • Do you want reviews, ratings, and business hours to update automatically from your Google listing
  • Do you want to know today how much you will pay in three years, with no upfront multi-year commitments
  • You prefer to write to a person rather than a program when something needs to be changed.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions they ask us about Hostinger.

How much does Hostinger cost upon renewal?

On the hosting plans detected on July 30, 2026: Premium renews at €9.99 per month net, Unlimited at €16.99, Cloud Startup at €23.99. On the two largest cloud plans, the renewal price is not published. On Horizons, the renewal coincides with the promotional price, so Explorer remains at €6.99 per month. The domain renewal price and the cost of email accounts from the second year onwards are not published.

Why is €2.99 a month not €2.99 a month?

Because it is not an installment. The pricing page states that all plans require advance payment and that the monthly rate is the total of the plan divided by the number of months. The €2.99 per month Premium plan is therefore a forty-eight-month commitment and an immediate payment of €143.52 net, which is €175.09 including 22 percent VAT. It is not hidden, but it is written in a place that almost nobody reads.

Does Hostinger Horizons make the website by itself?

It makes the first version, and it makes it fast. Then you fix the site yourself, message by message, and every message counts: the Explorer plan includes thirty per month, which are used up even when the response isn't what you wanted. In our test on July 29, 2026, what was shown before payment wasn't a website but a generated image, with garbled words instead of text. The real site arrives after payment, and at that point it works well.

With Hostinger, can I take my website away?

Yes, and that is one of their real strengths: Horizons exports the site code into a zip archive, so there is no platform lock-in. On our service, this option does not exist today: with us, only the domain is registered in the client's name, which they can take with them if they decide to go elsewhere.

Is Hostinger support in Italian?

The pricing page states 24/7 Italian-language support via chat and email, along with the ability to cancel at any time. A telephone number is not published on the pages we read on July 30, 2026. The stated refund period is thirty days on all plans.

Method

How we collected this data.

  • Where data is not published, we write it, invece di stimarlo.
  • Price lists change often, so the date at the top of the page is part of the information. If you find a figure different from ours, write to us and we will correct it.

Quello dell'hosting dice testualmente: "Hosting is free for the first year. After that, it renews at $203.88/yr and will be billed separately from your Hostinger Horizons plan".
