Squarespace: Prices and Real Cost Over Two Years.

The price list is simple, three tiers, and that's good news. However, the final bill isn't entirely reflected there: On the pricing page, VAT is not stated, the annual total is not written but must be calculated, and two items you will really pay for are the domain renewal and the email inbox, they are dollar-quoted on Italian pages.Below are all the plans in the two payment modes, the real cost over twenty-four months for Basic and Core, the two conditions to read before signing, and the things Squarespace does better than almost anyone.

The price list, as of July 30, 2026

Three floors, two prices each.

The figures are read from Squarespace's Italian pricing page, operating the selector between annual and monthly payment. The page displays the price only as an amount per month: the column with the annual total is our multiplication by twelve monthly payments, and not a figure read at checkout.

PianoAnnual, monthlyTotal for the yearMonth by monthHow much more does it costTo know
Basic11 €132,00 €15 €+36,4%Up to 2 employees, 2% commission on store sales, email account not included
Core17 €204,00 €24 €+41,2%Unlimited collaborators, 0% Squarespace commission on sales, email address listed on the card
Advanced29 €348,00 €42 €+44,8%like Core, plus 0% also for digital products and the highest share of AI tools

Based on VAT, there's a piece of data missing, and it needs to be stated as follows: the Italian pricing page for Squarespace does not mention VAT, taxes, or fees, so It is not declared whether the €11 per month is net or gross. An article from their support states that local taxes are applied to the plan price, which suggests net prices, but the purchase page doesn't say so, and we aren't assuming it. This is information that is missing for the Italian customer at the time of decision. For comparison, our €390 per year are net, with VAT on the invoice, because the service is reserved for those with a VAT number.

A permanent free plan does not exist. There is a fourteen-day trial, and it must be acknowledged that it does not ask for credit card details: among the providers we have checked, this is the least risky entry condition.

The first choice that changes the bill

Paying month to month costs from 36% to 45% and up.

It's the difference between the two columns on the price list, and the page presents it as a saving on the annual payment. Said another way, it's the same thing: you pay for the flexibility of being able to stop whenever you want.

Basic
+36,4%paying month by month

€11 per month or €15

On the entry-level plan, the difference is €4 per month. Over twenty-four months, that becomes €96, which is more than a third of the two-year fee.

Core
+41,2%paying month by month

€17 per month or €24

It's the plan that includes the mailbox, and it's what a small business ends up looking at if it wants an address on its own domain without paying extra for it.

Advanced
+44,8%paying month by month

€29 per month or €42

For those who sell, with zero commissions even on digital products. For a showcase website of a local business, there's no reason to go this far.

There is a consequence that is not visible from the price list: The domain included for one year is tied to the annual subscription.. So, those who pay month by month end up paying more for the subscription and don't receive the domain. And the included domain is only valid for a newly purchased domain. after having signed the annual plan: whoever already has one receives nothing in return.

Two conditions to read first

The discount that doesn't add up, and the prices in dollars.

These are not hidden things: they are written, but in different places from where you look at the price. We verified both on July 30, 2026, on the official Italian pages.

Condition 01

The 20% applies only to the first payment

At the top of the pricing page, as of the date of this review, there was an offer for 20% on any new plan, with a code to be entered at checkout. The terms of the offer, on the same page, state that the discount is valid only for the first payment of a new subscription and that does not apply to recurring payments, not applicable to previous purchases, nor to upgrades, nor in combination with other offers.

Upon renewal, the price reverts to the full list price. This isn't unfair; it's how almost all launch promotions work. It only becomes a problem if you based your calculations on the discounted price. The correct way to interpret that banner is to consider it a one-time saving, not a price.

Condition 02

Two real voices quoted in dollars

The plan's fee is in euros, but the two items added to the fee are listed in dollars on the Italian support pages. Domain renewal costs 20 $ per year after the first free year. The The Google Workspace Starter email plan costs 8.40 $ per month per user, and on the Basic plan it is not included: compare only on the Core and Advanced tabs.

No euro equivalent is shown next to those figures, so the Italian customer incurs the exchange rate and does not know in advance how much they will be charged. The same page warns that sales tax may be added to those amounts. This is the reason why, later, in the two-year statement Let's not add the two currencies: the exchange rate applied is not published, and adding them would be an estimate disguised as a total.

The full bill

How much does it really cost in two years.

Two years and not one, because the first year includes the free domain and over only one year the comparison says nothing. Scenario: local business, showcase website, own domain, one email account on the domain, annual billing, no online store.

To be read as Minimum verifiable amount, not as a final cost, for three stated reasons. The fees are calculated on a twelve-month basis, because the page does not publish the total amount charged. The VAT base for the fee is not stated, so it is not possible to report everything on a single basis without making things up. And the free year of email on the Core plan is subject to requirements that are described on the support pages using plan names that no longer correspond to Basic, Core, and Advanced: the correspondence isn’t confirmed, so that line could amount to an additional 100.80 $.

The comparison with us, at net values and over the same twenty-four months. We cost €780 net with the launch promotion, €870 at full list price. Squarespace on Basic starts at €264.00 plus $221.60, on Core at €408.00 plus $120.80: less than us in both cases, and we aren't trying to make the numbers add up any other way. The difference isn't in the price, it's in who does the work: there you build the site yourself, text and photos included, and continue to manage it yourself.

If you want the same account on all other Italian market providers, the complete table is in How much does a website cost, where there are also providers that cost less than Squarespace.

What do you understand, and what do you not

The differences that matter among the three floors.

Not all items on the price list carry the same weight for a local business. These are the ones that make a difference, plus those the supplier doesn't publish.

What is published
  • Collaborators: up to two on Basic, unlimited on Core and Advanced.
  • Squarespace Store Sales Fees: 2% on Basic, 0% on Core and Advanced. On the digital products 7%, 5%, and 0%.
  • AI tools at altitude: Up to twenty executions per month on the lowest floor, up to one hundred and twenty on the highest.
  • Mailbox indicated on the Core and Advanced cards, absent on Basic.
  • No minimum duration requirement You can upgrade or downgrade your plan, or cancel at any time, effective at the end of your current paid billing cycle. If you downgrade to a lower-priced plan, there are no prorated refunds.
  • Refund: fourteen days, only on annual subscriptions, to be requested with a form. If you cancel within fourteen days, the cost of the domain will be deducted from the refund, and for national domains such as .it, a refund is not guaranteed.
What is not published
  • The VAT base on the prices page. It is not declared, so the final amount is not deductible from where it is purchased.
  • The total annual charge. The page only shows the amount per month.
  • Number of pages, storage space, and bandwidth per Basic, Core e Advanced. L'articolo di assistenza sui limiti riguarda piani con nomi diversi, che non sono più sulla pagina prezzi.
  • The cost of Squarespace professionals, meaning the network of third parties to contact to have a website made. The quote is provided by the individual professional and is not included in the plan price.
  • A phone channel. We haven't found any indicated. Live chat is only stated to be in English; email support in Italian is available Monday through Friday, with hours expressed in the US East Coast time zone and a stated response within twelve hours outside of that range.

A note for those comparing multiple pages and finding figures different from ours. The Squarespace Italian pricing page contains, within the code, a structured data block with amounts various and lower of those shown on the screen, and not attributable to the prices visible even after applying VAT. We use the rendered prices, meaning those a person sees on the page, and We are not reporting those from the block. why they are misaligned. If you read somewhere a lower Squarespace price list than this one, that's probably the source.

Honesty

Squarespace is a good choice when:* **You want a visually appealing website:** Squarespace is known for its beautiful, modern, and professionally designed templates. If aesthetics are a top priority, it's a strong contender. * **You prioritize ease of use and simplicity:** Its drag-and-drop editor is intuitive and user-friendly, making it accessible even for beginners with no coding experience. * **You need an all-in-one solution:** Squarespace includes website building, hosting, domain registration (often free for the first year), security, and customer support in its plans. You don't need to piece together different services. * **You are a small business owner, freelancer, or creative professional:** The platform is well-suited for portfolios, small online stores, service-based businesses, and bloggers who want a polished online presence. * **You want to sell products online:** Squarespace offers built-in e-commerce features that are robust enough for many small to medium-sized online shops. * **You value good customer support:** Squarespace offers 24/7 email support and has a comprehensive help center. * **You don't need highly complex or custom functionality:** While Squarespace offers extensions and integrations, it's not as flexible as platforms like WordPress for highly custom features or very specific business logic. In summary, Squarespace excels when you need a beautiful, easy-to-manage website without the hassle of managing separate hosting or advanced technical details, especially for creative and business purposes where design is important.

One thing Squarespace is clearly strong in, and it's worth saying first: the drawing. The graphic and editorial quality of their models is among the best on the market, and for a business that sells an image, like a photographer, a restaurant, or an architecture studio, this matters more than any price tag.

Choose Squarespace if
  • Drawing is what matters most, and you want to start from curated models
  • You already have good quality photos of yourself: it is the kind of site that showcases them
  • Want to try risk-free: fourteen days and no credit card required
  • You don't want duration constraints, and you're fine with deciding cycle by cycle
  • You sell online and want zero Squarespace commissions, which are available starting from the Core plan
  • Can you handle CSS and JavaScript, or do you have someone who does it: the customization is complete
Choose us if
  • Your time is better spent on your business than building a website
  • Do you want to see the finished website, with your actual content, before paying anything
  • You want a price in euros, with the declared VAT base and no foreign currency items
  • Do you want a domain and mailbox included in the fee for the entire duration, not just the first year
  • Do you want reviews, ratings, and business hours to update automatically from your Google listing
  • You prefer writing to a person in Italian, without going through an American time zone

The comparison is over twenty-four months and not the first year: in the first year, any price list that gives away the domain wins, and that means nothing. Our amounts are net; for Squarespace, the VAT base of the subscription is not stated, so the columns cannot be brought to a single basis, and we point this out instead of pretending the gap is exact. Our price includes a €90 setup fee, which is waived by the launch promotion on the annual plan; on the monthly plan, it is €39 per month plus a €90 activation fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions they ask us about Squarespace pricing.

How much does Squarespace cost in Italy?

Spotted on July 30, 2026, on the Italian pricing page: Basic is €11 per month with annual billing and €15 when paying month-to-month, Core is €17 and €24, Advanced is €29 and €42. Multiplying the monthly fee by twelve for the year makes €132 for Basic, €204 for Core, and €348 for Advanced, but that total is our own calculation: the page only displays the monthly amount. Domain renewal starting from the second year and, on Basic, the mailbox are added to these amounts.

Are Squarespace prices inclusive of VAT?

It is not stated. The Italian pricing page does not contain any mention of VAT, taxes, or duties. A support article of theirs states that local taxes are added to the plan price, which suggests tax-exclusive prices, but the checkout page does not say so and we are not taking it for granted. It is the most important piece of missing information, because on a two-year subscription, a difference of tens of euros is at stake.

Does the 20% discount also apply to renewals?

No. The terms of the offer, on the same page announcing it, state that the discount is valid only for the first payment of a new subscription and does not apply to recurring payments, previous purchases, upgrades, or in combination with other offers. Upon renewal, it returns to the full standard price.

Is the domain included in Squarespace?

For a year yes, but under three conditions: an annual subscription is required, it must be a new domain, and it must be purchased after subscribing to the plan. Those who already have one get nothing in return, and those who pay month-to-month are not entitled to the included domain. From the second year, the renewal is stated at $20 a year, without euro value. Domain refunds are issued within five days of registration, and are not guaranteed for national domains such as .it.

Is the mailbox on my domain included?

Not on the Basic plan. The option only appears on the Core and Advanced tabs, and it is a Google Workspace box, so it is a resold third-party service. The stated standard price is $8.40 per month per user. The Core mentions a free year, but the requirements are described using plan names that no longer match those on the current pricing page, so the match is not confirmed. If you need an address on your domain, that is the item to clarify before signing.

Is there support in Italian?

By email yes, from Monday to Friday, with hours expressed in the US East Coast time zone and a stated response within twelve hours for messages sent outside of that window. Live chat is stated English only. The help center is partially translated: some guides link to the English version. A phone number is not listed on any of the pages we read.

Is it better to use Squarespace or hire someone?

It depends on how much work you want to keep for yourself, not the price: on price, Squarespace costs less than us on both plans. With them, you buy a very good tool and use it yourself: you choose the template, write the text, upload the photographs, and go back to it every time something changes. With a subscription service, you pay more and you don't do that work. If design is your priority and you feel like getting your hands dirty, the fourteen-day trial without a credit card is the cleanest way to find out in an afternoon.

Method

How we collected these prices.

  • Survey as of July 30, 2026 on the Italian Squarespace pricing page and in its Italian help articles. No figures come from blogs, comparison sites, or affiliate sites.
  • The prices were read from the rendered page, by activating the selector between annual and monthly payment, because the price list is not present in the static code of the page.
  • Yearly totals are a calculation, not a read figure: the page only displays the monthly amount and the total charged is not verifiable without creating an account, which we did not do.
  • We do not use the structured data block of the pricing page, which shows different and lower amounts than those displayed on the screen and cannot be linked to them even by applying VAT. We use the prices that a person sees.
  • The two currencies are not added together. The domain renewal and mailbox are billed in dollars and the applied exchange rate is not published: adding them to the euros would be an estimate presented as a total.
  • Where data is not published, we write it, instead of estimating it. This applies to the VAT base, the number of pages, the storage space, the bandwidth, and the cost of Squarespace professionals.
  • We are a competitor: Solucom is a Slovenian company (d.o.o.) based in Ljubljana with an Italian-speaking team, and it offers a service that competes with this product. That’s why the page also mentions that we’re more expensive than they are and explains in which cases their service is the better choice.
  • Price lists change often, so the date at the top of the page is part of the information. If you find a figure different from ours, write to us and we will correct it.
If the editing doesn't suit you

We'll show you your website before you make a decision.

We'll set up your business website with your actual content, the reviews your customers have already left on Google, and the photos you've already published, and we'll send you the link. It costs zero, no credit card is required, and if you aren't convinced, that's it. That way, you can compare it to Squarespace using two things that actually exist.
