Not an email address, not a PDF form to print \u2014 a button, easy to find and use, with which the customer communicates withdrawal in a few clicks. Let's see what the rule says, who it concerns, and where it's best to start.<\/p>\n\n<h2>What does the regulation provide<\/h2>\n<p>The obligation arises from the European directive on consumer rights (Dir. 2011\/83\/EU), amended by Dir. (EU) 2023\/2673, which introduced the so-called <strong>withdrawal function<\/strong> (Art. 11a). In Italy you can find it at\u2019<strong>Article 54-bis of the Consumer Code<\/strong>. In essence: when a customer has the right to withdraw, the seller must provide them with a tool <strong>Online, simple, and immediate<\/strong> to do it. The date that matters is the <strong>June 19, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Who is involved<\/h2>\n<p>It refers to who sells goods or services <strong>at a distance to consumers<\/strong> (i.e., B2C) in cases where the right of withdrawal applies. Our advice: don\u2019t assume one way or the other, but check your products and terms and conditions.<\/p>\n\n<h2>What should the button actually do<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>To be easy to find and use.<\/strong> The goal of the regulation is to remove friction: the customer should not have to search for an address or fill out complicated forms to exercise a right.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gather the minimum information.<\/strong> Who are you, what order, the will to withdraw. Nothing more, but in a traceable way.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirm on durable support.<\/strong> The customer must receive a confirmation that will last over time (typically an email, often with a PDF): this serves as proof, for both the customer and you, that the withdrawal has been communicated and when.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2>The mistake to avoid: thinking the button is enough<\/h2>\n<p>The visible part \u2014 the button \u2014 is the simplest. The part that makes the difference comes later: if a dispute arises tomorrow (\u00abI never received confirmation,\u00bb \u00abI requested it on time\u00bb), you must be able to prove <strong>What happened and on what date<\/strong>. This is why having a reliable and unalterable record of every withdrawal is important: it's your defense, not a technical detail.<\/p>\n\n<h2>Where to Start<\/h2>\n<p>Three concrete steps: <strong>1)<\/strong> map which of your products or services allow for the right of withdrawal; <strong>2)<\/strong> add the online withdrawal function at the right point of the order path and in the customer area; <strong>3)<\/strong> Make sure that every request generates a confirmation on a durable medium and a retained record.
